Not much has been happening on the agent front, am now in the limbo waiting for an answer.

Dipped into the ‘proper’ version the other night, and actually began to read it and feel satsified. Can still only manage a few sentences at the time though. Before the fear that a rogue error will derail my contenment.

Also making progress on my new novel, tentatively entitled Zeppelin. Have around 10,000 words of the first section down, as well as quite a full plan. I never used a plan before but this does not have as rigid plot as Abstraction where I knew where I was going and what needed to be done at a certain point, so am finding the plan quite useful. Also a good place to dump some of my more aimless ramblings in the hope they will conect with something else later. Though I would love to be old-fashioned and keep all my ideas in a notebook (my drawers are crammed with half started notebooks, stuffed with post it notes and other scraps) i think the computer is the most efficent way.

This new book is quite a departure, significantly since it is written in first person. it is hard to find the voice and keep it in the correct tense- which is why I am still only in ‘note’ form at them moment, not brave or committed enough to take the plundge… probably why I am writing on here instead.

I cant remember having this problem with my previous book. I dont know, but I always supposed second novels would be easier, a bit like the second album. Having gained experiance on how to structure and balance the storyline, the need for at least four or five central characters with enough realisim to pop up before the end, practice with dialogue while your style still having enough freshness and vigour to mean you dont need to push yourself into doing something new.

Doesnt seem to be working like that.
