Been having a rather unfocused these past few weeks. I blame the sun- no wonder the Russians were so great at writing, no distractions!
Have decided to have a renewed push at the publishers. After starting off by pledging only to send my work to one or two publishers at a time, I have now decided to send them off more regularly. This week has been a regular Blitzkreig with 3 in the post already (Ampersand/ Author Literary Agents and Michael Berenti). After accepting that rejections are not the end of a dream (the image of Fitzgerald literally coating the wall of his study with those dreaded slips has given me a wake up call) I have decided to send to as many as humanely possible. I am quite happy with my pack now, so it has been a fairly sppedy process. All I really change is the letter. I am not sure it is an effective tip, but I find it reassuring to look at all agents website and try and glean a bit of individual information ( be it they like film adaptations, young writers, thrillers) and work that in, in lieu of my patchy knowledge about contemporary writers!
I have sent in 7 and only just worked my way onto B. I have 10 double pages in the Yearbook to go- in really is the mathematics of chance. Just hope I dont have to wait til z!
